How I Contribute

My work is typically focused on project phases where experienced technical input can provide the greatest value, including concept development, design review, technical mentoring and construction-phase advising.

Early Concept Development

Development of practical, field-based approaches for river restoration, stabilization, and recovery projects. Support includes evaluation of geomorphic processes, project constraints, and restoration opportunities during the earliest stages of project planning. The goal is to identify solutions that are technically sound, constructible, and appropriate for site conditions.

Design Review and Technical Support

Independent review of restoration concepts, plans, and supporting analyses, with emphasis on field performance, constructability, and long-term stability. Drawing on experience across a wide range of project types and settings, I help design teams evaluate alternatives, identify potential issues, and strengthen project outcomes before construction.

Technical Mentoring

Support for engineering and restoration teams through conceptual planning, technical problem-solving, and project development. This may include guidance on channel form, geomorphic processes, restoration strategies, construction considerations, and adaptive management approaches. My role is to provide experienced technical input while helping teams build internal expertise.

Construction and Field Advising

Technical input during construction and adaptive management to address field conditions and implementation challenges. Support may include construction observation, review of field modifications, troubleshooting unexpected conditions, and evaluation of project performance. The focus is on helping project teams make informed decisions while maintaining project objectives and long-term functionality.
